RAWALPINDI: To educate students on how to stay safe during weather-related emergencies, School Education Department has formally instructed all government schools in the Rawalpindi Division to hold flood safety drills for students.

As the monsoon season gets underway, the drills are aimed at helping students learn how to stay safe and respond during floods and other weather-related emergencies, officials said.
The department issued the instructions to improve safety and minimize the impact of heavy rainfall on educational institutions.
According to an official circular sent to the heads of schools, administrations must immediately take preventive measures to protect students, teachers, school buildings, and educational equipment from possible damage caused by monsoon rains.
To prevent losses during the rainy season, the department instructed schools to secure computers, laboratories, libraries, and official records. Apart from that, in the same order, it has also been directed to school administrations to inspect their premises and ensure that essential facilities remain safe and operational.
In addition, the department directed schools to promptly report any rain-related damage to buildings to the relevant district education authorities. The reports must include complete details of the damage along with the estimated cost of repairs.
The School Education Department said the measures aim to protect students and teachers, safeguard government property, and ensure that academic activities continue without disruption throughout the monsoon season. Educations termed it a good move and hoped that this initiative must be extended across the province.
