WASHINGTON: The Washington Post has claimed that Field Marshal Asim Munir played a “pivotal role” in reducing tensions between the United States and Iran and in helping finalize the draft framework of a peace agreement.

In accordance with reports published in the newspaper, the Field Marshal Asim Munir kept in touch with all of the countries concerned and helped build the trust of the parties involved in this process.

Another prominent American newspaper, The New York Times said that this was an act of high level diplomacy where Pakistan performed a very important behind-the-scenes role in ensuring understanding between the two nations.
