PARACHINAR: A major scandal involving the issuance of fake Pakistani National Identity Cards to Afghan citizens has surfaced in District Kurram. Following the discovery, police have registered a formal case against 27 individuals allegedly involved in the fraudulent scheme.
According to police sources, the nominated accused include a network of officials and local influencers, specifically five Patwaris, 16 local Maliks, four Village Secretaries, and two officials from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The case was officially registered based on letter number 15126,34, dispatched by the DIG Operations Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 13.
The legal proceedings include more than eight different sections of the law. While the investigation is ongoing, police sources confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage. Several of the accused, including influential Patwaris, have reportedly secured pre-arrest bail from the court to avoid immediate custody. Investigations continue as authorities look into the extent of the identity card racketeering in the region.
