The Election Commission has released the final list of candidates for the election to the Senate seat vacated by Murad Saeed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Five candidates are in the run for senate election. Among them, PTI-backed candidate Irfan Saleem will contest as an independent while JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Haseeb, PML-N’s Asghar Ali, PPP’s Raheela Bibi and independent candidate Sajjad Khan Mohmand are among them. Voting for the election will be held in the KP Assembly on April 23.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed all preparations for the by-election on the general seat of the Senate vacated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. The election on this seat, which fell vacant after the disqualification of Murad Saeed.

According to the election schedule issued by the Election Commission, the final list of candidates has been released on April 16, 2026, after which the situation of the candidates in the election has now become clear.

The Returning Officer (Provincial Election Commissioner) of the Election Commission has issued a formal notification in this regard, in which the members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have been directed to vote for this seat.

This by-election is being closely watched in political circles. After the release of the final list of candidates, political parties are now finalizing their election campaigns. Candidates and voters have been directed to fully abide by the Election Commission’s code of conduct.
