Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, along with a high-level delegation, have completed a 3-day official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The visit discussed in detail regional security, diplomatic relations and promotion of sustainable peace between the two countries.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), during the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezishkian, while separate meetings with the Iranian leadership included Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Commander Khatam Al-Anbiya Headquarters Major General Ali Abdul Hosseini.

Field Marshal Asim Munir’s three-day visit is significant as it comes at a time when the region is facing security and economic challenges.

Meetings with the Iranian President and other military and political leaders reflect that Pakistan and Iran are now on the same page in safeguarding their strategic interests.

The discussions were focused upon bringing sustainable peace to the region, with particular emphasis on the evolving regional security environment, ongoing diplomatic engagements, and collaborative measures aimed at promoting enduring peace and stability in the region. The Field Marshal underscored the need for dialogue, de-escalation, and peaceful resolution of outstanding issues through sustained diplomatic engagements.

The Field Marshal expressed deep appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Iranian leadership and the people of Iran. He conveyed sincere regards and best wishes from the President, the Prime Minister, and the people of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership, reaffirming Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen the historic and brotherly ties between the two countries.

The visit reflects Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to facilitate a negotiated settlement to the Middle East conflict and to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

This visit is being seen as crucial to removing any misunderstandings between the two countries and promoting a strong military and diplomatic alliance.
