PESHAWAR: The Sessions Court has dismissed a petition filed by retired Bishop Humphrey Sarfraz Peter challenging his retirement, following which he no longer remains the official Bishop of the Peshawar Diocese of the Church of Pakistan.
The decision came after the petition was previously rejected by a lower court. Following the court ruling, Bishop Alwin Samuel John, appointed by Church of Pakistan Moderator Archbishop Azad Marshall, formally assumed administrative control and responsibilities of the Peshawar Diocese.
A special prayer ceremony was held at the Peshawar Diocese of the Church of Pakistan under the leadership of Bishop Alwin Samuel John, where participants expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
During the ceremony, special prayers were offered for the country’s security, stability, the success of security forces, and the federal and provincial governments and administrations.
The church also appreciated the efforts of the lawyers who worked on the legal proceedings and acknowledged their dedication.
