QUETTA: Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti’s reconciliation initiative bore fruit as the Balochistan government and the sit-in committee signed a written agreement following successful talks.
Both sides have agreed to implement the demands of the families of martyrs of Ziarat and take joint steps for peace and stability in the province. Moreover, as per the written agreement, both sides agreed to form a judicial commission to investigate the incident of the martyrs of Ziarat.
Not only this, they decided in the agreement that a joint meeting of opposition parties and families of martyrs will be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Balochistan on the law and order situation soon.
The sit-in committee members and the government agreed to enhance the capacity, manpower and professional skills of the police force in urban areas of Balochistan. As per the agreement, the martyrs of Ziarat will be declared martyrs under the prevailing policy, and the support of the families, education of children and compensation will be provided to bereaved families as well.
To honour the sacrifices of the martyrs, several government buildings will be named after them as a tribute to their contributions. A committee headed by the provincial revenue minister will also be formed to address public concerns related to revenue matters, with participation from government officials and local representatives.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the martyrs and their families were a matter of great respect and that ensuring their welfare was the responsibility of the Balochistan government. He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, police, and other law enforcement agencies, saying the entire nation acknowledges their services and sacrifices.
