ISLAMABAD: Uncertainty continues to surround India’s participation in the upcoming Central Asian Volleyball Championship, scheduled to be held in Islamabad from July 22 to 29, as the Indian team has yet to confirm its participation.
According to sources, the Indian Volleyball Federation has not officially confirmed the team’s attendance, as it is still awaiting the required government clearance (NOC) for travel to Pakistan. Despite this, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has already forwarded the clearance issued by the Government of Pakistan to its Indian counterpart last week.
Under the tournament regulations, participating teams are required to confirm their participation within the stipulated deadline. Sources say that if India fails to confirm within the next two days, it could be excluded from the championship. In that case, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation is expected to release an updated tournament schedule within the next two to three days.
Meanwhile, organizers have already received participation confirmations from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal, with preparations for the regional event entering their final phase.
Foreign teams are expected to begin arriving in Islamabad from July 20, while tournament officials say all logistical and organizational arrangements have been finalized ahead of the championship’s opening on July 22.
