The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transport Department has begun work on a plan to launch an inter-district BRT-style bus service from Peshawar to other districts via the motorway.
According to officials, under the proposed project, Peshawar will be connected to Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi and Charsadda through a modern BRT-style bus service. The Transport Department has decided to start the feasibility study of the project soon, during which the proposed routes, cost of the project and suitable locations for the establishment of BRT stations will be determined.
Officials say that running BRT-style buses on the motorway will be relatively easier than on the GT Road. The proposed service is expected to provide modern travel facilities to thousands of passengers traveling daily between Peshawar and adjacent districts.
According to the Transport Department, the overall cost of the project, routes, stations, and other technical details will be finalized after the feasibility study is completed. According to officials, the main objective of the inter-district BRT project is to establish modern, effective, and better public transport connectivity between Peshawar and other districts.
