The Punjab government has introduced another facility for individuals seeking driving licences, expanding access to learner licence services through the Punjab Information Technology Board’s (PITB) e-Khidmat Centres while further digitising licence renewal services.
Under the new initiative, citizens can now apply for a learner driving licence at any of the 15 e-Khidmat Centres operating across the province.
According to the authorities, learner licences are issued on the spot and remain valid for six months. The centres provide services from 9:00am to 5:00pm, while applicants can obtain further information through the e-Khidmat portal or by calling the 1317 helpline.
In addition, Punjab residents can now renew their driving licences online without visiting a licensing centre.
Following the integration of licence services into the Dastak App, the entire renewal process has been digitised, allowing applicants to submit personal information, upload the required documents, pay the prescribed fee electronically and track the status of their application online until delivery.
To apply for a licence renewal, applicants are required to provide a recent passport-sized photograph, scanned copies of both sides of their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), and copies of the front and back of their existing driving licence.
Applicants aged over 50 must also upload a medical certificate duly verified by a government doctor. A valid mobile phone number and email address are also required.
The application process begins with downloading the Dastak App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and creating an account using the applicant’s name, CNIC and mobile number.
After logging in, users can select the “Driving Licence Services” section and choose the “Regular Driving Licence Renewal” option. Applicants must then enter their licence number, CNIC number, date of birth and licence category before uploading the required documents.
Upon completion of the application form, the system generates a Payment Slip ID (PSID), enabling applicants to pay the government fee through mobile banking, internet banking or an ATM.
After the payment is made, applicants must submit the application through the app, after which they can monitor its progress through the DLIMS portal or the Dastak App.
The authorities have advised motorists to renew their licences before expiry to avoid late payment surcharges, which are automatically calculated based on the length of the delay.
Traffic Police and Dastak officials also cautioned that applications are often delayed due to common errors, including uploading unclear images of identity documents or existing licences, entering incorrect licence or CNIC numbers, failing to complete the final submission after payment, or omitting the mandatory medical certificate for applicants over the age of 50.
