RAWALPINDI: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced a temporary power shutdown in several areas of Rawalpindi on Friday morning to facilitate emergency maintenance and safety work.

According to an IESCO spokesperson, electricity supply from the 132kV Satellite Town Grid Station will remain suspended on multiple feeders from 5:30am to 8:00am as emergency repair and safety work is carried out on the Tariq Shaheed feeder cable.

The spokesperson said the scheduled shutdown is necessary to ensure the maintenance work is completed safely and within the stipulated time.

Areas likely to be affected include those served by the Shaheed Muhammad Din, Shamsabad, Sadiqabad, Syedpur Road, C Block, Shakrial, Noor Muhammad Road, Asghar Mall, Ojhri Camp, Afandi Colony, National Market, Abdul Rehman, Urology, Haideri Chowk, Fourth Road, Commercial Centre, New Millpur, Ghausia Chowk, E Block, Abu Bakar, Farooq-e-Azam and Jamia Masjid Road feeders.

IESCO urged consumers in the affected areas to take necessary precautions during the temporary outage and cooperate with the utility to facilitate the timely completion of the maintenance work.

The spokesperson said the safety work is aimed at ensuring a safer and more reliable electricity supply for consumers in the future.

Apologizing for the inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension, IESCO assured consumers that power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the maintenance work.
