PESHAWAR: President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, along with other Iranian officials, are to attend the UN General Assembly.
On the other hand, the Palestinian President has been denied a visa.US TV reported this, quoting a spokesperson of the US State Department. According to the report, President Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi want to go to New York to attend the UN General Assembly session.
The US TV report further said that visas for the important Iranian delegation and essential staff have been approved; however, the number of officials in the delegation is lower than last year.
The 81st session of the UN General Assembly is starting today, Friday, in New York and will continue until September 28. According to the US State Department, as a host country, its responsibilities have been fulfilled.
Iranian officials will be able to participate in the high-level week of the UN General Assembly; however, this visit will be under travel restrictions, and certain restrictions will be imposed on them.
On the other hand, US officials have refused to issue a visa to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to attend the General Assembly.
