KARACHI: The government has simplified the process for elderly pensioners to obtain their Proof of Life certificates.

Previously, pensioners were required to visit a bank every six months to verify their survival, but under the updated system, they no longer need to visit banks.

However, a common concern has been raised regarding pensioners particularly elderly widows who do not own mobile phones and wonder how they can complete their biometric verification and obtain the certificate.

Addressing this concern, NADRA’s Public Information Officer, Syed Shahahat Ali, explained that citizens without mobile phones can easily obtain their Proof of Life certificates close to their homes through alternative channels. Pensioners who do not own a mobile phone can personally visit their nearest NADRA office to get the certificate processed.

Furthermore, to expand accessibility, the number of Sahulat Franchises has been increased from 5,000 to 12,000 across the country, allowing citizens to visit the franchise closest to their homes to obtain the certificate.

Syed Shahahat Ali emphasized that NADRA provides the Proof of Life certificate completely free of charge. He urged citizens to report anyone demanding payment for this service immediately to NADRA’s helpline at 1777.
