PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Elementary and Secondary Education Department has clarified the truth behind a notification circulating on social media claiming that educational institutions across the province would remain closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
The department declared the notification fake, saying the document had caused confusion and concern among students, parents and teachers regarding the weekly schedule of educational institutions.
According to the fake notification, the government had decided to keep public and private educational institutions closed on Fridays and Saturdays for two months as part of fuel conservation measures.
The fabricated document further claimed that all primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities across the province would observe a two-day weekly holiday, while educational activities would continue as normal on the remaining four days.

The Education Department has rejected these claims and clarified that the notification circulating on social media does not represent an official government decision.
It is worth recalling that in June 2026, educational days were also reduced during the petroleum crisis, with special instructions issued regarding summer camps to help compensate for academic losses.
Officials have said such measures are temporary and that decisions may be reviewed once conditions improve.
