ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has nominated Dr Muhammad Najib Naqi as the party’s candidate for the presidency of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to ARY News, Dr Muhammad Najib Naqi will contest the election for the AJK president on behalf of the PML-N. He thanked Nawaz Sharif for nominating him for the position.

Naqi said the nomination reflected Nawaz Sharif’s confidence not only in him but in the entire region.

He described the nomination as a vote of confidence and said that addressing public difficulties would be the government’s top priority given the challenging circumstances.

“We will make every possible effort to reduce the hardships faced by the people,” Naqi said, adding that a decision regarding a political successor would be made when the appropriate time came.

Following his nomination, political leaders and PML-N workers began arriving at Kashmir House in Muzaffarabad to congratulate Naqi on being chosen as the party’s candidate for the AJK presidency.
