PESHAWAR: The Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) has expressed serious concern over the university’s administrative performance and financial situation, warning that the institution is heading towards a financial and administrative crisis as teachers remain unpaid.
PUTA said salaries were a basic right of teachers and not a concession or favour, calling on the university administration to immediately release all outstanding salaries.
The teachers body alleged that the university treasurer had repeatedly failed to properly manage financial affairs, while delays in salary payments reflected administrative incompetence and a lack of accountability.
According to PUTA, the administration was creating new problems instead of focusing on welcoming new students and improving the academic environment.
The association warned that the financial crisis was pushing the university towards administrative and academic decline, requiring immediate attention and effective measures before the situation became irreversible.
PUTA demanded the immediate payment of all outstanding salaries and urged the administration to take concrete steps to address the crisis.
The teachers association also warned that it would pursue legal and democratic means to safeguard teachers legitimate rights and help resolve the crisis facing Peshawar University.
