ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has issued important guidelines for Pakistani citizens living in or travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for employment.
According to officials, the guidelines have been issued to help Pakistani workers avoid legal, travel and health-related problems in the UAE while also protecting their rights.
Pakistani workers have been advised to strictly follow UAE laws and ensure that they work only on valid and legal work visas. Authorities have also urged them to keep their Emirates ID and health insurance card with them at all times.
Workers have been instructed to receive their salaries through the Wage Protection System (WPS) and use only legal banking and authorised exchange channels when sending money to Pakistan.
In case of labour or employment-related issues, Pakistani workers can contact the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) helpline at 80060.
The authorities have also stressed the importance of workplace safety, advising workers to use protective equipment such as helmets and gloves. Workers have been urged to drink plenty of water during periods of extreme heat to avoid heat-related health problems.
Pakistani citizens in the UAE have further been advised to keep emergency numbers readily available. The police can be contacted at 999, while the ambulance service can be reached at 998.
Officials said compliance with these guidelines would help Pakistani workers remain safe, protect their legal rights and avoid unnecessary difficulties while living and working in the UAE.
