SWAT: Flour prices have continued to rise in Swat, causing growing difficulties for consumers, with the price of a 20kg bag reaching Rs3,300 and a 50kg bag selling for as much as Rs8,000.
Residents and consumer groups attribute the price hike to the continued disruption in wheat supplies from Punjab to Swat, saying the shortage has contributed to a steady increase in flour prices.
They criticised the lack of effective measures to control the situation and urged the government to immediately restore wheat and flour supplies to the district and take practical steps to stabilise prices.
Residents also expressed concern over what they described as a policy of allegedly depriving people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of wheat supplies due to political differences, calling the situation unfortunate.
They said people in Swat were already struggling with inflation and other economic hardships and urged the authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and provide relief to consumers.
