TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Minister has stated that “Iran will not accept intimidation and greed” from other countries, emphasizing that Tehran will defend its national interests and sovereignty.
Speaking at a press conference, the Foreign Minister said Iran remains committed to diplomacy and dialogue, but will not negotiate under pressure or threats.
The Minister said Iran has faced decades of sanctions and intimidation, but such tactics have failed to change Iran’s policies. He stressed that “pressure will not yield results.”
He reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and within the framework of international law. Iran is ready for talks, but only on the basis of “mutual respect and equal footing.”
The Foreign Minister said Iran supports stability in the region and opposes foreign interference. He accused some countries of pursuing “greed” in the region for economic and political gains.
Despite the firm tone, he said the door for “fair negotiations” remains open, provided other parties abandon coercive approaches.
The comments come at a time of heightened tensions over stalled nuclear talks and regional security issues. Western powers have been pushing for renewed negotiations, while Iran has demanded the lifting of sanctions first.
Iranian officials have repeatedly said that Tehran will not compromise on its defense capabilities, missile program, or regional influence.
The Foreign Minister concluded by saying: “Iran seeks peace, but peace with dignity. We will not trade our independence for temporary concessions.”
