ISLAMABAD: Google on Friday expanded its digital skills initiative by increasing its total number of Google Career Certificates to 350,000 to help Pakistani students and professionals improve their digital and artificial intelligence (AI) skills.

Under this initiative, Google added 150,000 new scholarships this year, bringing the total number of certificates offered under the program to 350,000. Thus, participants across Pakistan will gain access to industry-recognised online courses in fields such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, project management, digital marketing, and e-commerce.

It aimed at improving employment opportunities for young people, supporting freelance careers, and encouraging entrepreneurship by equipping learners with job-ready digital skills. Additionally, it has expanded its investment in digital education in Pakistan since 2022 and is now broadening the initiative into a comprehensive workforce development program.

In collaboration with local partners, including Tech Valley, the Punjab Higher Education Commission, and the Higher Education Department, this initiative is benefiting students and professionals from across the country.

In this connection, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has already directed its officials to complete at least two Google Career Certificate courses to promote the effective use of AI and other advanced digital technologies in the public sector.
