OGRA Set to Announce Petrol Prices Daily Under New System
Earlier, the federal government has decided that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will determine petroleum product prices on a daily basis, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Information Minister Atta Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik said the prime minister and the federal cabinet had approved the new mechanism under which OGRA would calculate daily petroleum prices and publish them on its official website.
The petroleum minister said the decision comes amid rising global crude oil prices due to renewed regional tensions, which have once again pushed up energy costs worldwide.
He said the government had utilized resources worth Rs130 billion in an effort to provide relief to consumers amid increasing energy prices.
Ali Pervaiz Malik added that the daily pricing system would allow petroleum rates to reflect international market trends more efficiently and ensure greater transparency for consumers.
