‎CHARSADDA: A senior education officer in Tehsil Tangi, District Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is facing serious allegations of corruption, with sources claiming he is regularly extorting money from teachers and Class-IV employees in the name of “vehicle fuel.”

‎According to sources, the officer has established a systematic extortion network. School heads and Class-IV staff are allegedly being forced to pay monthly amounts. Those who refuse are reportedly threatened with harassment and forced transfers.

‎Members of the education community expressed deep concern, saying the provincial education system is already struggling with poor infrastructure, teacher shortages and absenteeism.
‎”If field officers themselves are involved in corruption, then God help education,” one source said.

‎The most alarming aspect, sources added, is that senior officials in the department are allegedly fully aware of the situation but have remained silent, raising serious questions.

‎Sources further said that public representatives and teachers’ organizations are expected to stage a protest in the coming days. Protesters will demand immediate departmental action against the officer and his removal from the post.

‎Citizens have also urged the Provincial Minister for Education and the Secretary Education to take immediate notice of the matter and order a transparent inquiry in Tehsil Tangi to bring those responsible to justice, in order to protect the sanctity of the teaching profession.
