PESHAWAR: Despite reforms in the health sector and claims of better medical facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a case of a young child suffering from kidney disease being given a five-year late appointment for treatment.
The late appointment for the treatment of serious diseases raised questions bout the long waiting lists in government hospitals and the difficulties faced by patients. The family says that the disease does not wait, so such a long period is extremely painful for any patient and his family.
According to experts, timely diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases is very important, while an unusual delay in treatment can have negative effects on the patient’s health. This situation also reflects the lack of specialized medical centres, skilled manpower and available facilities in the province.
Citizens say that if a child has to wait five years for treatment, it is not just a problem for a patient but also raises serious questions about the capacity and efficiency of the health system.
The hospital administration has not given its comments on this issue of prolong appointment, however it happened mostly in government hospital due to extreme rush of the patients.
