ISLAMABAD: The cost of the government Hajj scheme is expected to increase next year, with the short-duration package likely to be priced at around Rs1.3 million, according to sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Sources said pilgrims opting for the government scheme may have to bear higher expenses compared to the previous year, with the estimated increase expected to be around Rs100,000.
The short Hajj package is expected to cover a period of 20 to 22 days, while the 40-day long Hajj package may also see an increase of nearly Rs50,000. The expected cost of the long package could be around Rs 1.2 million.
Officials said pilgrims would be provided the facility to pay Hajj expenses in two instalments, with each instalment expected to be approximately Rs600,000.
Last year, the short Hajj package under the government scheme was priced at around Rs1.2 million, while the long package was comparatively lower.
The final Hajj package prices will be announced by the Ministry of Religious Affairs after completion of the necessary arrangements and approval from relevant authorities.
