ISLAMABAD: Veteran Pakistani actor Wasim Abbas has talked openly about his divorce from the well-known actress Saba Hameed, who he has been married for the last 29 years of his life.
In a recent interview where the subject of their relationship was discussed in detail and has now gone viral on social media, Abbas talked about how their divorce happened on mutual understanding, not because of any disagreements between the two of them.
“I am happily separated from Saba after 29 years and I am praying for her happiness,” he told a journalist.
Abbas clarified that sometimes a divorce doesn’t necessarily mean that one is the liar and the other the truth teller.
“You do not always find yourself lying when your spouse says the truth. Both of you may be right from your sides and both have their reasons to take that step,” he explained.
Ending a relationship with grace is sometimes better than staying in an unhappy marriage, according to Abbas.
“Better to separate dignified and respectfully with mutual respect rather than struggling through the tough phase of life together. Nothing wrong in parting ways honourably,” he added.
Commenting on their marriage, Abbas admitted that him and Saba Hameed agreed before getting married that they would not have children together. As he already has four kids from his first marriage and Saba Hameed has two kids from her ex-marriage.
Asked about their relationship, Abbas stated that there is no grudge between him and his ex-wife.
“I have no malice against Saba. Every time we meet, we talk amicably and if we get the offer to act together in some serial drama, we will happily accept the offer,” he added.
The interview has gained wide media coverage, and many social media users have lauded the actor for his sensible comments regarding relationships and divorce.
