QUETTA: Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended the Quetta-to-Peshawar Jaffar Express service due to the prevailing security situation, railway officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to officials, the train departing from Peshawar will not complete its scheduled journey to Quetta and will instead terminate at Jacobabad as part of the temporary operational changes. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard passengers, railway staff, and railway infrastructure amid ongoing security concerns.

Railway authorities said the suspension will remain in effect until the security situation improves. They added that services will be restored once law enforcement agencies declare the route safe for regular train operations. Passengers holding reservations for the affected service have been advised to stay in contact with railway booking offices for updates regarding rescheduling and refunds.

The Jaffar Express is one of Pakistan Railways’ key long-distance passenger trains, linking Quetta with Peshawar through several major cities. In recent years, the route has experienced repeated disruptions due to security-related incidents, prompting authorities to adopt enhanced safety measures whenever threats are reported.
