The Indian Navy’s Drishti-10 Starliner unmanned aerial system (UAV), based on the Hermes 900 platform of Israeli company Elbit Systems and manufactured in India in collaboration with Adani Defence, crashed during a training flight in the Dharampur area near Porbandar in Gujarat on Thursday.

The Indian Navy confirmed the incident and said that the drone was on a routine training flight when the accident occurred. According to the Navy, there was no loss of life or damage to civilian property in the accident, while a board of inquiry has been formed to find out the reasons for the incident.

According to reports, this is the second major accident related to the Drishti-10 platform in the last one and a half years. Earlier, a similar drone crashed near Porbandar during the testing phase.

Drishti-10 is a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) surveillance drone, used by the Indian Navy for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
