SYDNEY: Young and Talented Football player from Australia, Tete Yengi, has converted to Islam, stating that it is not because of any spontaneous reaction but rather after a lot of thinking and research.
This football star, aged 25 years old, stated that he went to a mosque in Adelaide out of curiosity to gain more knowledge about the practices followed in Islam.
As per reports, Yengi stated that while in the mosque he came across Mufti Ismail Menk who was an Islamic scholar. They had a talk together right after the Friday prayers. During their discussion, the scholar asked him if he had read the declaration of faith, to which Yengi replied saying that he had not.
Later, Yengi accepted the invitation to know more about the religion and thus converted to Islam after reciting the Shahada in the mosque.
It is to be noted that the footballer did not convert due to any one incident but due to a lot of reading and personal experience and he said that accepting Islam was done by full conviction.
A player of South Sudanese descent, Yengi is recognized as an upcoming football star in Australia. Characterized by his physique and attacking playing style, the footballer has played for different teams and gained prominence in the Australian football community.
The revelation by Yengi has drawn attention from followers as many have been quick to acknowledge his journey in life and the importance of self-reflection in matters of faith.
