QUETTA: Two children were killed and another injured in a grenade attack on a madrassa in Quetta’s Sariab Mill area, officials said.

According to reports, the attack took place at around 7 p.m. when unidentified attackers targeted the Imdadia Madrassa on Sariab Mill Road with a hand grenade.

Authorities attributed the attack to the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The responsibility claim was not independently verified.

Two children died at the scene. They were identified as 10-year-old Muhammad Sufyan, son of Maulvi Ahmad Ali, and 11-year-old Khalil Rehman, son of Abdul Rehman.

A seven-year-old child, Asadullah, son of Niaz Muhammad, was also seriously injured in the explosion and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Following the attack, police and security forces reached the site, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

Law enforcement agencies have started reviewing CCTV footage from the area and activated intelligence networks to trace the attackers and their alleged facilitators.
