ISLAMABAD: Security authorities brought down an unauthorized quadcopter using soft-kill measures after it was flown without permission in the Rawalpindi-Islamabad area, sources said.
According to the sources, the quadcopter belonged to a private citizen who reportedly operated the device as a hobby. The aircraft was detected and neutralized through non-destructive electronic countermeasures after it was found to be flying without the required authorization.
Following the incident, the owner of the quadcopter was taken into custody.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the flight or any legal action being pursued against the individual. The incident comes amid heightened enforcement of regulations governing the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in sensitive areas.
