PESHAWAR: Religious devotion and respect is being expressed across the city on the occasion of the 9th Muharram-ul-Haram.
The first central procession of the new Muharram, Dhul-Jinnah, has been taken put from Imam Bargah Hussainia Hall, Sadar Peshawar. Mourners of Imam Hussain (as) will offer the noon prayer at Kala Bari. The participants of the procession are singing poems and beating their chests to pay tribute to the great sacrifice of the martyrs of Karbala.
The administration has taken the strictest security measures to protect the procession. Heavy personnel of police and law enforcement agencies have been deployed, all entry and exit routes have been blocked. All markets and bazaars in the president are closed due to the procession.
The traffic police have announced alternative routes so that the citizens do not face difficulties. On the other hand, the second central procession of the new Muharram will leave from Imabargah Bibi Sahiba, Ganj at 4 pm.
