A meeting of the Specialized Health Care Department chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reviewed the progress of three major medical projects in the province.
A detailed briefing was given on Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha, Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research and Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Lahore.
The briefing was told that the construction work of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha has been completed and is expected to be inaugurated on July 15, while Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is expected to be inaugurated on July 31 and Jinnah Institute of Cardiology on August 31 will be ready.
The meeting was informed that 22 million patients have been treated free of cost in Punjab so far, while 13 thousand 550 children have undergone free heart operations under the CM Children’s Heart Surgery Programme. Moreover, 7 lakh 28 thousand patients were provided free medicines at their doorstep.
The Chief Minister also approved the Diaspora Doctor Locum Program (DDLP) under which Pakistani and foreign specialist doctors living abroad will be given the opportunity to serve in government hospitals in Punjab for a short period of time. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that it is her mission to provide the best human resources and high quality medical facilities in Punjab.
