PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has announced the introduction of a satellite-based communication system aimed at strengthening connectivity in remote and operationally challenging regions of the province.
As per sources from the police department, with the use of the satellite communication system, uninterrupted communication services would be provided to the field teams in emergencies, especially in zones where mobile networks and landlines fail to function due to interruptions or non-availability.
In the initial stage, the police will roll out the satellite communication service in the districts of Bannu, Lakki Marwat, along with other remote parts of the province.
They added that there would be a command and control center that will also be set up along with a specialized technical team for handling this network system.
The sources further stated that the problem faced by operational teams in remote parts in relation to communication was quite significant.
This was because of which their response time and coordination became delayed due to interruption issues.
The police explained that this system would improve emergency services, as it would provide quick access to any crime scene, among other efficiencies.
The system is also supposed to prove critical in the wake of natural calamities and any other emergencies when normal systems of communications fail.
It was further revealed that an extension of the communication network by satellite to other areas would be made following an evaluation process.
In the provincial capital city of Peshawar, it has been reported that the progress on the system establishment process is well under way.
