PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission (KPHCC) on Friday sealed 99 healthcare centres in a crackdown launched against illegal medical practices in the province.

According to the commission’s spokesperson, enforcement teams carried out a massive operation involving 572 surprise inspections in various districts of the province in just four days.

In the drive, illegal clinics, unauthorized laboratories, and fake doctors operating in Peshawar, Swat, Swabi, Malakand, Mansehra, Kohat, Karak, Haripur, Charsadda, Buner, Abbottabad, Bannu, and both Upper and Lower Dir were also sealed.

During these extensive raids, 99 medical centres were immediately sealed due to severe regulatory violations, lack of qualified staff, and operation without valid registration.

Furthermore, the commission issued show-cause notices to 241 other healthcare facilities, directing them to explain their legal status and rectify administrative deficiencies within a specified timeframe.

The spokesperson said that all legal actions were executed strictly under the mandate of the KPHCC Act 2015 and the Anti-Quackery Regulations 2022.

The commission reiterated its commitment to eliminating quackery across the province, vowing that strict oversight will continue to ensure public health safety and the provision of standardized medical services.
