Due to the increasing risk of forest fires in Peshawar, the district administration has imposed Section 144 for an indefinite period.
According to a statement from the Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar, the threat of fires in forested areas has risen significantly because of dry weather and rising temperatures, prompting this emergency measure.
Under this ban, there is a complete prohibition on burning bushes, weeds, and agricultural residues in all forested and adjacent areas of Peshawar district, including the Hassan Khel Forest Range. Additionally, all fire-related activities, including those during picnics, are strictly forbidden in forest areas.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that forest fires pose serious threats to public property, biodiversity, and nearby communities. As a result, measures to protect forests, wildlife, and the environment have been further tightened.
These orders are effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice. The district administration has instructed the relevant authorities and police to ensure strict compliance with this ban.
It has been made clear that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who violates these orders under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
