PESHAWAR: The governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, announced that CNG stations across the province will reopen starting today, ensuring uninterrupted gas supply from 6 AM to 6 PM.
In a press conference held along with the opposition leader Dr. Ibadullah Khan and the provincial finance minister, Mazammil Aslam, Governor Kundi said that even though there are certain political disagreements, these will not stand in the way of solving the problems of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The governor informed that after holding talks with the federal government, an agreement has been made to provide 35 MMCFD of gas which will now make it possible for the reopening of the CNG services in the province.
Talking about the cooperation of all political parties in resolving issues like that of wheat and gas crises, Governor Kundi assured that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would always keep its own interests above politics in every situation.
Being optimistic, the governor added that the prime minister Shehbaz Sharif has already shown concern about the problems of the province and the wheat shortage issue will surely be sorted out in a matter of a few days.
Finance Minister of the Province Mazammil Aslam said that negotiation and the constitution process were the right way to sort out disputes, rather than having heated arguments. According to him, as per Article 151 of the Constitution, no province could be deprived of its gas supply.
Further, he stated that the province was set to emerge as a significant centre of gas and oil in the coming days. He emphasized the importance of paying attention to industrial growth and budget allocation to merged districts. He expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Petroleum Minister for taking timely action and termed it a victory of negotiation with political leadership being in agreement.
