LAHORE: The latest global search trends for 2026 have revealed a growing public interest in artificial intelligence, social media platforms and instant-access digital services, reflecting changing internet usage patterns worldwide.

According to recent reports, YouTube retained its position as the most searched term on Google this year, as users continued to rely heavily on the platform for music, news, educational content and entertainment videos.

AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT secured the second spot, highlighting the rapidly increasing role of artificial intelligence in education, research, content creation and everyday problem-solving.

Meanwhile, Facebook and Instagram ranked third and fourth respectively, underscoring the continued dominance of social media in users’ daily lives.

Searches related to weather updates ranked fifth, driven largely by growing concerns over climate change and unpredictable weather conditions around the world.

Online shopping platform Amazon secured sixth place, while searches for Google itself surprisingly ranked seventh on the list.

Google Translate came in eighth, reflecting strong demand for language translation services, while WhatsApp Web ranked ninth due to its widespread office and business use.

Rounding out the top ten was Gemini, indicating the growing influence of AI technologies on the future of internet usage and digital interaction.
