PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar Khan Yousafzai has expressed disappointment with party leaders over what he described as a lack of interest in the ongoing long march.

In a message posted on social media, Junaid Akbar said that leaders who could not follow the narrative of PTI founder Imran Khan should step aside and allow others to move forward.

He urged party workers to keep an eye on leaders who were merely fulfilling formalities and identify such individuals. He also called on workers to oppose awarding party tickets and positions to those who, in his view, were not actively supporting the party’s cause.

The PTI provincial president said the party could no longer operate in a way where some members remained in jail, others faced daily cases and disqualifications, while certain leaders neither shared the burden faced by workers nor appeared willing to stand by Imran Khan’s ideology.

Junaid Akbar further claimed that the only reason for Sohail Afridi’s disqualification would be his loyalty to Imran Khan.

He said that following decisions against Khan’s loyalists, everyone would eventually have to distance themselves from what he referred to as the existing system.
