LAHORE: The 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) reaches its crescendo today as 2017 champions Peshawar Zalmi take on tournament debutants Hyderabad Kings in the grand finale here at the Gaddafi Stadium.
The summit clash, scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM, marks the end of a high-octane 39-day tournament that saw the league expand to eight teams for the first time.
Ahead of the match, a star-studded closing ceremony will feature performances by renowned artists including Atif Aslam, Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Aima Baig, and the Sabri Sisters. To ensure spectators enjoy the festivities and the planned fireworks display, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has advised fans to reach the stadium by 6:00 PM.
Zalmi, led by the prolific Babar Azam, enter the final as favorites after a dominant run in the playoffs, where they brushed aside Islamabad United in the Qualifier. Babar, who recently struck a majestic century to guide his side to the final, expressed his desire to lift the trophy once again.
The arrangements for the final were reviewed on Saturday in a meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Emphasizing the need for world-class standards, Naqvi directed officials to prioritise the comfort and convenience of fans.
The HBL PSL is our flagship event, and we must ensure that the fans who have returned to the stands in such large numbers are provided with the best possible experience, the chairman said.
