ISLAMABAD (Uqab Jan): Minister of State and Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, Bilal bin Saqib, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the promotion of the digital economy in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the need for an effective and world-class regulatory system in the virtual assets sector is to be fully operational as soon as possible, aiming to boost investor confidence.

He also highlighted the importance of taking special steps to provide training to the youth in modern technology fields, particularly artificial intelligence and digital finance, to ensure that the country’s workforce aligns with future demands.

Bilal bin Saqib provided the Prime Minister with an update on transitioning the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority into an operational regulator and the inauguration of the regulatory sandbox. He noted that innovations are being introduced in areas such as AI-powered payments and regulated virtual asset services.

He added that efforts are underway to prepare national institutions, the workforce, and the regulatory framework for the next wave of economic transformation.
