PESHAWAR (Shahid Jan, Salman Yousafzai) It has been revealed that four out of the five C-arm machines used for surgeries at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar are out of order, significantly impacting important operations and causing severe difficulties for patients.

According to sources, several departments in the hospital are reliant on only one functioning C-arm machine, leading to frequent delays, especially in bone surgeries and other sensitive procedures.

Medical staff said that the C-arm machine is crucial for immediate imaging of internal body parts during surgery, and its unavailability adversely affects complex operations.

Doctors note that this equipment is especially vital in orthopaedic surgeries. Due to the malfunctioning machines, not only are operations being postponed, but some patients are also compelled to seek treatment at private hospitals, which adds to their financial burden.

Hospital sources state that the relevant authorities have been notified multiple times about the need to repair the machines and procure new ones, yet no effective action has been taken. They have warned that if the machines are not repaired promptly, patients will continue to face delays in receiving timely treatment.

On the other hand, LRH spokesperson Muhammad Asim has confirmed the malfunction of four C-arm machines at the hospital.

He stated that LRH has a total of seven C-arms, and the four faulty machines are expected to be repaired within a week. He added that technical malfunctions in these machines are normal and that the LRH administration has tasked the relevant department with completing the repairs within this timeframe.
