ISLAMABAD: A new entry and exit System (EES) has been introduced for travel to European countries, replacing traditional passport stamping with digital records, according to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment.
Under the new system, all non-European citizens requiring short-term entry into the Schengen Area will be covered. The initiative is designed to strengthen monitoring and improve security of non-EU nationals entering and exiting Europe.
According to the statement, biometric data including fingerprints and facial images will be collected at border control points.
Officials said the implementation of the EES will make travel easier and save time, while also enhancing overall border security.
The system is also expected to help prevent the use of fake identities and documents, and assist in identifying individuals overstaying their permitted duration.
The bureau has advised Pakistani travellers to familiarize themselves with the new requirements and conditions before travelling to Europe in order to avoid any inconvenience.
