ISLAMABAD: Star batsman Babar Azam has achieved yet another significant milestone in his cricket career as he scored 100 half-centuries.
The player scored his milestone while batting in an ongoing Pakistan Super League match. Babar scored an unbeaten 71 for his side Peshawar Zalmi, helping them defeat Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets.
Speaking after the match, the team’s head coach Otis Gibson appreciated Babar’s consistent batting skills and his classy batting style. “It is a pleasure to see him play in such a manner,” Gibson commented on Babar’s performance.
Additionally, he informed that Babar’s centuries in franchise cricket were catching up to the number of centuries scored by one of the best T20 batters in history Chris Gayle from the West Indies.
Moreover, earlier during the ongoing season of the PSL, Babar was the first player ever to score more than 4,000 runs in the competition. Babar made this achievement within only 104 matches in the competition.
According to sports analysts, Babar’s latest milestone further establishes him as one of the most prominent cricketers of our time.
PCB bans Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani for two years from PSL participation
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned Zimbabwe’s cricket player Blessing Muzarabani from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for two years. This ban came after it was noted that Muzarabani had breached the contract signed between himself and the PSL and joined the Indian Premier League (IPL).
According to the PCB, Blessing Muzarabani joined IPL while he still had an active contract with the PSL. The PCB stated that professional cricket involves trust and agreements being kept. He needed to act professionally in the PSL environment as well as during other competitions like the IPL.
“The Professional game requires trust and assurance through contractual agreements,” a spokesman for the PCB said. “Players participating in franchise tournaments have to do so with professionalism and transparency.”
The PCB went ahead to state that it is important to ban players who do not meet the required professionalism. Such players and their agents must understand that there is a need to maintain the standards of the tournaments.
“This step is taken to maintain the standards of the PSL environment and its tournaments,” the spokesman added.
