ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has once again issued an alert predicting rain across the country, according to which there is a strong possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in most areas from April 16 to 19, while hail is also expected at some places.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intermittent rain and wind have been predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Haripur and Kohat from April 16 to 19.
According to the report, heavy rain and hail may also occur in some places of the province on April 17 and 18.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a possibility of rain in Astore, Diamer, Ghizer, Skardu and Hunza along with snowfall on the mountains, while rain and hail with strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in various districts of Azad Kashmir including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley and Poonch from April 17 to 19.
In Balochistan, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Barkhan, Sherani, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Khuzdar and Lasbela from April 17 and 18.
Similarly, clouds will fall in various areas of Punjab including the federal capital Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh from April 16 to 18.
Rain and hail with strong winds and thunderstorms are also expected in the districts of Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar of southern Punjab.
In Sindh, wind and rain are likely in Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu and Jacobabad from April 16 to 18.
The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of damage to weak infrastructure, electricity poles, trees and solar panels due to strong winds, wind and hail, so citizens should take precautionary measures.
As a result of heavy rain in the upper areas, there is a risk of flooding in rivers and canals, while there is a risk of urban flooding in the low-lying areas. The department has directed farmers to take immediate preventive measures to protect crops and citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to avoid any unpleasant situation.
