ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Courts of Islamabad have issued an order to maintain the arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. This warrant is related to allegations that he made misleading statements against state institutions, which have consequently harmed their reputation.

The court expressed strong displeasure at his ongoing absence and instructed the relevant authorities to arrest Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and present him in court.

It is important to note that the National Cyber Crime Investigation (NCCI) has filed a case against Sohail Afridi under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). He is accused of running a systematic campaign against state institutions that publicly damages their reputation.

During today’s hearing, the court rejected Afridi’s request to be exempt from appearing in person and emphasized that the rule of law would be upheld at all costs. The court ordered that he be arrested and presented at the next hearing, which has been adjourned until March 9.
