PESHAWAR: A modern stroke intervention facility for stroke patients was launched at the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology.

A new emergency treatment facility for stroke patients has been launched at the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC), marking a significant advancement in the health sector. This initiative is made possible through a special fund supported by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, aimed at providing timely and effective treatment for stroke patients.

With this facility, stroke patients will be able to receive a critical life-saving procedure within 3 to 4 hours of experiencing a stroke. The administration at PIC emphasises that timely intervention can not only save lives but also reduce or eliminate the long-term effects of a stroke.

Professor Dr. Shahkar Ahmed Shah, Dean and Chief Executive of PIC, stated that the introduction of modern stroke treatment at PIC represents a major development in emergency medical services. He highlighted that prompt treatment is crucial for saving patients’ lives and preventing permanent disabilities.

Medical Director Dr. Ali Raza expressed that this initiative showcases a commitment to enhancing specialised medical facilities at PIC. The availability of this service will enable immediate and effective treatment for stroke patients, significantly improving their chances of recovery.
