PESHAWAR: Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has launched a new cricket academy aimed at providing aspiring young cricketers with professional coaching, modern training facilities, and opportunities to develop their skills for the highest levels of the game.
‘Younis Khan Cricket Academy’ was launched at KHA Legend Arena in Karachi. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Younis Khan said Pakistan possessed an abundance of cricketing talent and that greater efforts were needed to identify and nurture young players from an early stage.
He stressed that the long-term success of Pakistan cricket depended on strong grassroots development, adding that providing aspiring cricketers with quality coaching and modern training facilities would help produce the next generation of international players.
The academy is expected to provide structured coaching and create opportunities for promising young cricketers to improve their game under professional guidance. Younis Khan said that the basic aim of the academy would be to find cricket talent at the grassroots level across the country.
Widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s greatest batters, Younis Khan enjoyed an illustrious international career spanning nearly two decades. He remains Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in Test cricket with more than 10,000 runs and famously led the national team to victory in the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan’s first and only T20 world title.
After retiring from international cricket in 2017, Younis has remained actively involved in the game as a coach and mentor, with a strong focus on developing the next generation of cricketers.
