PESHAWAR: In a major development in the case of Mumtaz alias Mumtazay, the suspect wanted by Peshawar Police in multiple cases is being transferred to Pakistan from Bahrain following an Interpol operation.
According to sources, Mumtaz alias Mumtazay is being brought to Pakistan via Islamabad Airport from Bahrain. DSP Ijaz Nabi and DSP Ashfaq traveled to Bahrain and took custody of Mumtaz alias Mumtazay from Interpol and local authorities.
Following this, both police officers departed for Pakistan along with the accused. A voice message and video received from Mumtaz alias Mumtazay have also confirmed the transfer. The Peshawar High Court had earlier directed the CCPO Peshawar to ensure the accused is produced in court safely, that his security is guaranteed during investigation, and that he is later transferred to jail safely.
Police officials have termed Mumtazay’s return from Bahrain as a significant breakthrough for Peshawar Police. Meanwhile, the suspect’s mother has expressed hope that along with the Peshawar High Court’s directives, the accused’s constitutional and fundamental rights will also be ensured.
