ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast regarding the sighting of the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 Hijri, stating that the first day of the Islamic month is expected to fall on Saturday, August 15.
According to predictions made by PMD, the moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal is not expected to be visible in the evening of August 13 on account of some astronomical reasons including the age of the moon among others.
The department predicted that according to its astronomical calculations, the day 12 of Rabi-ul-Awwal i.e. the day of celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi is expected to be Wednesday, August 26.
It is also predicted by PMD that weather conditions in most parts of the country will be partly cloudy on the evening of August 13, which will also have an impact on moon sighting. The moon will set in Karachi in the evening of August 13 at around 7:40 pm.
However, the ultimate decision regarding the beginning of Rabi-ul-Awwal and the date of Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be made by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
