ISLAMABAD: The prices of mobile phones in Pakistan can be seen increasing due to the pressure faced by manufacturers due to the increased cost in the global semiconductor market and the smartphone chip market.
According to sources in the industry, due to the increasing requirement of chips that are being used in artificial intelligence (AI) data center along with the increased cost of memory chips, wafer production, and other important electronic components, there has been an increase in the production cost of smartphone chips.
According to international reports, the global chip producer Qualcomm has sent out the message of a price increase in several of their chip products. This increase will also affect the whole smartphone industry.
It will certainly be seen having an impact on the global mobile phone markets and it is expected that the manufacturers will increase the prices of the devices because of the increased cost of production.
In Pakistan, where a significant percentage of mobile phones use imported components and devices, it has been predicted that the rise in global chip prices can cause an increase in the prices of smartphones in the local market.
